The youngest of four siblings, one-year old Hussein was born with a Subaortic Membrane and a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), two complex congenital heart defects which obstruct and reduce the flow of blood to the body. Hussein needed surgery to remove the subaortic membrane and to close the hole in his heart. With the shortage and increased cost of food, medicine, and basic supplies due to Lebanon’s economic crisis, in addition to Hussein’s heart condition, the emotional and financial stress on Hussein’s family was heavy.

An online crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise the funds needed for Hussein’s surgery.
