5-year-old Maha’s heart has fought since the day she was born.  At Birth, she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Atresia, a life-threatening malformation of the pulmonary valve in the heart.  She was only 5 days old when she had her first open heart surgery at AUBMC’s Children’s Heart Center. 

Maha’s treatment required a series of surgical procedures to repair the pulmonary valve. In May 2020, she was due for a cardiac catheter and a Glenn heart operation to redirect and improve the blood flow to her lungs. Maha needed urgent financial aid for her critical surgery. 

An online crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise the necessary funds for Maha’s surgery. It was labeled the “Ramadan campaign’ as it coincided with the Holy Month of Ramadan and was the first digital fundraising initiative during the pandemic.
